About the 2025 Gathering

2025 Gathering of Pilgrims

Co-hosted by the Canadian Company of Pilgrims and American Pilgrims on the Camino.

The 2025 Gathering of Pilgrims, co-hosted by the Canadian Company of Pilgrims and American Pilgrims on the Camino, is set to be a landmark event. Designed for members of both organizations and select guests, the 2025 Gathering will bring together enthusiasts and experts from across North America and beyond.

History

American Pilgrims on the Camino has proudly hosted an Annual Gathering in various U.S. cities for the past 27 years. In 2025, they are excited to partner with the Canadian Company of Pilgrims (CCoP) to co-host a similar event in Canada.

Leadership

“We are delighted to welcome pilgrims from across Canada and the United States to Vancouver,” said Donna Coutts, CCoP Co-Chair of the event. American Pilgrims Co-Chair Dave Donselar added, “It is a privilege to share the leadership and to co-create an enriching program with our Canadian friends to the north. Together, we hope all participants feel as if they are back on the Camino.”

Together, Dave, Donna, and their teams hope that all participants leave raving about the 2025 Gathering and eagerly anticipating the next one.

2025 Gathering Theme

“Bridges of the Camino: Connecting Cultures and Hearts.”

This theme highlights the collaborative nature of the event and underscores the idea of the Camino as a journey that brings together people from diverse backgrounds. It emphasizes the following concepts:

  1. Unity and Friendship: Honoring the strong bond between Canadian and American pilgrims and the global Camino community.
  2. Cultural Exchange: Exploring the diverse traditions and stories pilgrims bring to the Camino, enriching the journey for all.
  3. Connection and Reflection: Encouraging introspection on personal journeys and the meaningful connections made along the way.
  4. Support and Solidarity: Highlighting the importance of mutual support, just as bridges uphold those who cross them.

This theme will be explored through presentations, entertainment, and other activities that foster cross-cultural understanding and personal growth, making the 2025 Gathering a memorable and meaningful event for all participants.

Association Connections

A goal of the event is to ensure that participants leave with a deeper understanding of the roles and missions of the respective associations. We aim to highlight how individuals can contribute both individually and collectively to serve our communities. The 2025 Gathering will include representatives from the national bodies of the host associations, local chapters across Canada and the U.S., and the Association Du Québec à Compostelle.

What to Expect

The program, jointly curated by representatives from both groups, will feature lectures, presentations, and activities centered on pilgrimage routes and the rich history of the Camino de Santiago. Attendees can look forward to a diverse lineup of speakers and presenters from the U.S., Canada, Spain, and various international associations dedicated to supporting pilgrims.
